Professional Experience

Dr. Nagarathna Annappa has amassed a rich and diverse teaching experience in the field of law since 1999. Her notable positions include serving as a Faculty of Law at NLSIU, Bengaluru, since November 2006. Prior to this, she worked as a full-time Lecturer in Law at K.L.E. Society’s Law College, Rajajinagar, Bangalore, from August 2001 to October 2006, and as a part-time Lecturer in Law at Islamia Law College, Bangalore, from June 1999 to March 2001.

Throughout her career, Dr. Annappa has been actively engaged in delivering lectures and conducting courses on various legal subjects. She has delivered guest lectures on topics such as cyber laws, terrorism, and legal frameworks concerning human rights at esteemed institutions both nationally and internationally. Notably, she delivered lectures at National Law University, Assam, and Manitoba University, Winnipeg, Canada.

Dr. Annappa’s dedication to legal education extends beyond traditional classroom settings. She has been involved in teaching Cyber Law subjects to scholars pursuing PG Diplomas in Cyber Laws and Cyber Forensics at NLSIU for five years. Additionally, she has delivered lectures in contact classes for post-graduate students of law and conducted courses on legal research, intellectual property rights, and legal education for various academic programs.

Her international engagements include visiting the University of Sao Paulo’s Law School and other prestigious institutions in Brazil. During her visit, she delivered guest lectures on Indian cyber laws, privacy, and data protection laws. Dr. Annappa’s extensive teaching experience and commitment to legal education have made her a respected figure in the field of law both domestically and internationally.

Research Interests

Dr. Nagarathna Annappa’s teaching and research interests encompass a wide range of legal domains, including Criminal Laws, Cyber Laws, Data Privacy Laws, Technology Laws, Medical Laws, Criminology, and Laws Relating to Women and Children. She demonstrates a commitment to addressing contemporary legal challenges and contributing to the development of legal scholarship in areas critical to society’s well-being.

In addition to her teaching and research pursuits, Dr. Anappa has undertaken various research and training projects. Notably, she designed and conducted the first 6-day Management Development Program on Cyber Laws in collaboration with the Army Training Command (ARTRAC). This program, conducted from June 5th to 10th, 2023, catered to officers from the Indian Army and was facilitated through the Professional & Continuing Education (PACE) division at the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru.
