Dr. Winyi Solomon is a Political Science scholar with a Ph.D. specializing in the impact of social media on youth political participation in Uganda. They completed their doctoral studies in February 2024, building upon an MA in International Studies from Seoul National University and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from Makerere University. With a background in lecturing, coordinating programs, and research, Dr. Solomon has contributed significantly to political science and public administration, particularly in fostering youth engagement and understanding social media dynamics.

Education:

Dr. Winyi Solomon holds a Ph.D. in Political Science, specializing in the impact of social media platforms on youth political participation in Uganda. They completed their doctoral studies in February 2024. Prior to this, Dr. Solomon earned an MA in International Studies from the Graduate School of International Studies at Seoul National University in Seoul, South Korea, in December 2014. Their academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences, with a major in International Relations and Political Science, from Makerere University in January 2010. Dr. Solomon’s educational background reflects a strong foundation in political science, international relations, and social sciences, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of political dynamics and social phenomena.

Professional Experience:

Dr. Winyi Solomon brings a wealth of professional experience to the field of Political Science and Public Administration. Since February 2024, they have served as a Lecturer and Coordinator for Graduate Programs, overseeing the smooth functioning of undergraduate programs, coordinating exams and assessments, and teaching and supervising students in International Relations. Prior to this role, Dr. Solomon held positions as an Assistant Lecturer at Makerere University, where they taught, examined, and supervised undergraduate students while engaging in research and attending conferences. From 2010 to 2015, they worked as a Peer Educator and Researcher at the Patriotism Secretariat under the Office of the President, organizing training sessions, liaising with district officials, and playing a pivotal role in promoting patriotism programs in secondary schools. Dr. Solomon’s commitment to education and research is further demonstrated by their additional responsibilities as a lecturer at Uganda Military Academy Kabamba and Senior Staff and Command College in Kimaka.

Dr. Winyi Solomon’s research interests span across several key areas within Political Science and International Studies. They are particularly focused on the impact of social media platforms on youth political participation in Uganda, delving into how digital technologies shape political engagement and civic involvement among young people. Additionally, Dr. Solomon is interested in exploring issues related to international relations, area studies, and comparative politics, with a specific focus on Africa and its interactions with the global community. Their research endeavors aim to contribute valuable insights into contemporary political dynamics, social movements, and the evolving landscape of governance in developing countries.
