Assist. Prof. Dr. Kaan Koçali has a comprehensive educational background in both business and engineering. He completed his Doctorate in Health and Safety at Istanbul Aydin University from 2017 to 2021. Dr. Koçali holds a postgraduate degree in Occupational Health and Safety from Istanbul Aydin University (2015-2016) and another postgraduate degree in Mining Engineering from Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa (2011-2016). He earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Anadolu University (2010-2021) and in Mining Engineering from Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa (2007-2011). His diverse educational qualifications provide a solid foundation for his expertise in occupational health and safety, as well as in business and engineering.

Professional Experience:

Assist. Prof. Dr. Kaan Koçali has a rich and diverse professional background in the field of Occupational Health and Safety. He currently holds the position of Assistant Professor at Istanbul Gelisim University, where he has been serving since 2021. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Koçali plays an active role in academic and administrative activities, including his position as the Erasmus Program Department Coordinator and membership in various committees such as the Ethics Committee, Performance Evaluation Commission, and Unit Quality Commission. Dr. Koçali’s experience extends to practical applications in the field, where he has been involved in safety leadership, process safety peer reviews, and risk analysis. His commitment to occupational health and safety is further demonstrated through his various certifications and training courses from reputable organizations like NEBOSH and IOSH. Throughout his career, he has also engaged in developing and implementing safety management systems, contributing significantly to the enhancement of workplace safety standards and practices.

Research Interests:

Assist. Prof. Dr. Kaan Koçali’s research interests are primarily focused on various aspects of Occupational Health and Safety. His work delves into ergonomics, work measurement and methods engineering, and safety management systems. He is particularly interested in mining engineering and technology, including mining operations, extraction and smelting, prospecting and exploratory operations, and both open-pit and underground production methods. Dr. Koçali’s research also covers areas such as rock mechanics, excavation techniques, mine transport systems, and mine safety and environment. Additionally, he explores mineral economics, ore bed modeling, and the health and safety of workers in mining operations and facilities. His comprehensive research aims to improve safety standards, optimize production processes, and enhance the overall working conditions within the mining industry and related fields.
