Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jiwon Kim is an esteemed academic in Public Administration at Hankyong National University. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration from the Graduate School of Public Administration at Seoul National University, where he also earned his M.P.A. with a major in Public Policy. He completed his B.A. in Public Administration with a minor in Economics from Korea University. Dr. Kim has served in various academic and administrative roles, including Director of the Institute of Education Innovation and Associate Professor at Hankyong National University. He was a Visiting Scholar at the School of Public Affairs & Administration, Rutgers University-Newark. His research focuses on public welfare policy, occupational safety and health policy, social cohesion, government performance, and international comparative public administration. Dr. Kim has received several honors, including the Top 50 Academic Achievements in Social Sciences Award from the Ministry of Education and the Achievement Award from The Korea Association for Public Sector Affairs Analysis & Evaluation.

Professional Experience:
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jiwon Kim has an extensive professional background in Public Administration. He currently serves as the Director of the Institute of Education Innovation and Associate Professor at the School of Social Integration, Hankyong National University. Previously, he held the position of Associate Professor at the Department of Public Administration at Korea National University of Welfare from April 2020 to February 2023, where he also served as Assistant Professor from March 2015 to March 2020. Additionally, he was the Director of the Library and Residence Halls at the same university. Dr. Kim has also contributed as the Dean of the Department of Public Administration. He worked with the Korea Workers’ Compensation & Welfare Service for over a decade. His academic appointments include a visiting scholarship at Rutgers University-Newark and an adjunct assistant professorship at Myongji College.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jiwon Kim’s research interests encompass a wide range of topics within public administration and welfare policy. His primary focus is on Public Welfare Policy, particularly Social Insurance and Welfare Finance. He is also deeply interested in Occupational Safety and Health Policy, exploring how these areas contribute to overall social cohesion. Additionally, Dr. Kim’s work investigates Government Performance and International Comparative Public Administration, aiming to understand and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of public institutions and policies on a global scale.
