He obtained his PhD in Geological Resources and Geological Engineering from the State Key Laboratory of Geohazard Prevention and Geoenvironment Protection, under the mentorship of Prof. Tang Chuan, with an expected graduation date in December 2023. Prior to this, he earned his MSc in Geological Engineering from the same institution, where he continued to work with Prof. Tang Chuan. Dr. Yang began his academic journey with a BSc in Geological Engineering from the School of Environmental and Civil Engineering at Chengdu University of Technology, graduating in July 2014. His education has provided him with a solid foundation in geological sciences and engineering, emphasizing geohazard prevention and management.

Dr. Yu Yang has accumulated extensive professional experience in the field of Geological Engineering, emphasizing geohazard risk assessment and emergency management. Currently serving as a Lecturer at Xihua University’s School of Emergency Management since April 2024, he imparts his expertise in emergency management strategies and geological hazard mitigation. Prior to this role, Dr. Yang worked as a Technical Manager at Zhaozhi Future Technology (Chengdu) Co., Ltd. from May 2021 to May 2023, where he focused on integrating remote sensing, risk assessment, and monitoring systems for effective emergency management. He also held a Technical Research position at the State Grid Sichuan Electric Power Company’s Electric Power Research Institute from August 2022 to February 2023, concentrating on dynamic risk zoning and environmental monitoring. Earlier in his career, Dr. Yang worked as an Engineer at the Chengdu Planning and Natural Resources Bureau’s Geological Environment Monitoring Station from July 2017 to May 2021, where he was responsible for geological disaster risk zoning, monitoring, forecasting, and emergency management.
