Continuing his academic pursuits, Prof. Lohani completed a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Geology from Ranchi University, Jharkhand, in 1989, achieving 71.63% and first division honors. He furthered his qualifications with a Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Environmental Engineering from Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Odisha, graduating top of his class with an 8.8 CGPA in 2013. His academic journey culminated in a Ph.D. from Utkal University, awarded for his pioneering research in Groundwater Hydrology, focusing on groundwater potential and quality assessment in the Athgarh region, Cuttack district, Odisha.

Prof. Dr. Tarun Kumar Lohani has held various distinguished positions in academia and administration. Currently, he serves as a Professor of Hydraulic & Water Resources Engineering at the Water Technology Institute, Arba Minch University, Ethiopia, focusing on research and teaching in hydraulic engineering and water resources. Previously, he held key roles including Professor cum Dean at the Gandhi Institute for Education & Technology and Director cum Principal at the Universal Institute of Engineering & Technology, Lalru, Derabassi, Mohali, Punjab, India. His earlier career includes a tenure at Orissa Engineering College, Bhubaneswar, where he progressed from Lecturer to Head of Department (H.O.D.) in Civil Engineering, contributing extensively to curriculum design and academic leadership.
