Dr. Chuka Ononye, originally from Onitsha, Nigeria, is a faculty member at the Department of English & Literary Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). He holds active memberships in various professional associations such as the International Pragmatics Association (IPrA), Pragmatics Association of Nigeria (PrAN), Association of Internet Researchers (AoIR), and Poetics and Linguistics Association (PALA). Dr. Ononye’s research interests span discourse analysis, pragmatics, stylistics, and critical linguistics, with a particular focus on conflict/violence and peace discourses in both literary and non-literary texts. He has received fellowships from the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) in New York and Zentrum Moderner Orient (ZMO) in Berlin, in addition to being honored with two research grants from the Nigerian Government’s TETFUND. Dr. Chuka Ononye’s research interests span several key areas within the fields of discourse analysis, pragmatics, stylistics, and critical linguistics. He specializes in examining various forms of communication, particularly in contexts characterized by conflict, violence, and peace discourses. His research focuses on analyzing the language used in political, media, and literary discourse, with a keen eye on understanding how rhetoric, stylistic devices, discourse patterns, and pragmatic meanings contribute to shaping and constraining communication in these contexts.
