Dr. Shamim Aktar Munshi is a dedicated professional with expertise in library and information science. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Aligarh Muslim University, with a thesis focusing on the Public Library System in West Bengal. Dr. Munshi also possesses an Integrated Master of Library & Information Science (MLISc.) from Pondicherry University, along with a Post Graduate Diploma in Library Automation and Networking (PGDLAN).

Her academic journey includes a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Geography from Aligarh Muslim University.   • Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Geography from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, with First Division (62.73%) in 2011 through regular mode.
Professional Experience

Currently, Dr. Munshi serves as Librarian-Stage 1 at the Central Library, Ananda Chandra College, Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, a position she has held since February 26, 2020. In this role, she manages library operations, facilitates access to resources, and supports academic and research activities within the institution.

Previously, she worked as an Assistant Professor on a contractual basis at the Centre for Distance Education, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, from August 1, 2019, to February 15, 2020. During this time, she contributed to the academic development of students and engaged in scholarly research in the field of library and information science.

Additionally, Dr. Munshi completed an Internship Program at the Central Library, Burdwan University, Burdwan, West Bengal, from May 21 to June 13, 2012. This experience provided her with practical exposure to library operations and enhanced her understanding of library management practices.

Through these professional experiences, Dr. Munshi has demonstrated a commitment to advancing education, supporting research initiatives, and promoting the effective management of library resources.

Research Interest

Dr. Shamim Aktar Munshi’s research interests span various aspects of library and information science, focusing on both theoretical and practical domains. With a Ph.D. in Library & Information Science, awarded by Aligarh Muslim University, Dr. Munshi has expertise in evaluating and analyzing public library systems, particularly in the context of West Bengal. His research delves into the utilization of technology in libraries, including the use of Wi-Fi among research scholars, as evidenced by his dissertation work at Pondicherry University. Additionally, Dr. Munshi has supervised several dissertations, demonstrating his interest in mentoring and guiding aspiring library professionals. His scholarly endeavors extend to organizing workshops, seminars, and orientation programs aimed at enhancing research skills and fostering academic excellence in the field of library science. Dr. Munshi’s extra-curricular involvement in cultural activities highlights a holistic approach to academia, emphasizing both intellectual and social engagement.
