Professional Experience:

Dr. Yichen Zhong is an accomplished early career researcher in Politics and International Relations, with extensive experience in research, teaching, and public engagement. He currently serves as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Aston University, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). In this role, Dr. Zhong disseminates his research findings through publications and conference presentations, conducts elite interviews, and builds relationships with policymakers, practitioners, and academics. Prior to his current position, Dr. Zhong was a Lecturer in International Relations at Northumbria University, where he designed, taught, and graded modules on international relations, conflict, and security at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He also co-founded the Critical Security & Foreign Policy Research Cluster. Dr. Zhong’s academic career began at Aston University, where he worked as a Tutor and Teaching Assistant, leading seminars and guest lecturing on various modules. He also coordinated the Aston International Summer School for international undergraduate students. In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Zhong has practical experience in social media and event coordination, having worked as a Social Media Intern at Aston University and an Office Assistant Intern at the Charhar Institute. His diverse experience highlights his exceptional analytical, communication, and teaching skills, making him a valuable contributor to the field of Politics and International Relations.
