Assistant Professor Dr. Demeke Ambaye is a respected educator and psychologist known for his expertise in applied developmental psychology and research methodologies. He earned his Bachelor of Mathematics from Addis Ababa University in 1994 before delving into psychology, where he obtained a Master of Arts specializing in Measurement and Evaluation in 2007. Dr. Ambaye furthered his academic journey by completing his PhD in Applied Developmental Psychology at Addis Ababa University’s School of Psychology in 2014.

With over a decade of teaching experience, Dr. Ambaye has made significant contributions to academia. He served as a lecturer at Debre Markos University’s Department of Psychology from 2007 to 2018, where he guided students, taught various psychology courses, and conducted research. Since 2018, he has continued his academic career at Bahir Dar University, where he continues to impart knowledge and mentor students.

Professional Experience

Dr. Demeke Ambaye has accumulated extensive teaching experience throughout his career, primarily in the field of psychology. His university work experience began in June 2007 at Debre Markos University, where he served as a teacher in the Department of Psychology until January 2018. During this time, he played a pivotal role in advising students, delivering lectures on various psychology courses, and teaching research and statistics courses to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Since January 2018, Dr. Ambaye has continued his teaching career at Bahir Dar University, where he continues to impart knowledge and expertise in psychology to his students.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Ambaye has been actively involved in providing training sessions to professionals in different sectors. He conducted training sessions for Debre Markos University staff on quantitative and qualitative research methods in clinical trials. Furthermore, he delivered research training to Amhara regional justice research officers and Amhara Regional police college instructors, focusing on quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and approaches.

Through his teaching and training endeavors, Dr. Demeke Ambaye has showcased his dedication to enhancing research skills and knowledge in both academic and professional settings, contributing significantly to the development of psychology education and research in Ethiopia.

Within this domain, he explores various aspects of developmental psychology, including cognitive, social, emotional, and moral development across the lifespan. Additionally, Dr. Ambaye is deeply involved in research aimed at enhancing the quality of education delivery, particularly in higher education contexts. He is interested in exploring innovative teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and educational policies to improve student learning outcomes and overall educational experiences. Furthermore, Dr. Ambaye’s research extends to gifted and talented education, focusing on the identification, characteristics, and educational interventions for exceptional learners.
