Education:
Associate Professor Dr. Federica Paci obtained her Ph.D. in Information Technology from the University of Milan, Italy, on February 14, 2008, with a thesis titled “Access Control in Service Oriented Architectures.” Prior to this, she completed her Laurea degree with honors in Computer Science (a five-year program) at the same university, graduating on February 19, 2004, with a remarkable graduation mark of 110/110 cum laude. Her specialization during her Laurea studies focused on Database and Information Systems, and her thesis was titled “A System for Selectively Encrypting and Signing XML Documents.”
Professional Experience:
Associate Professor Dr. Federica Paci has an extensive professional background in academia and research. Since December 2018, she has been serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Informatics at the University of Verona, Italy. Prior to this role, she was a Lecturer in Cyber Security at the University of Southampton, UK, from February 2015 to December 2018. Dr. Paci began her post-doctoral career at the University of Trento, where she held two positions from March 2012 to January 2015, working on projects focused on secure future internet software services and security engineering for lifelong evolvable systems. She also gained valuable experience as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Purdue University in the USA, where she contributed to research on privacy-preserving digital identity management. Throughout her career, Dr. Paci has been involved in numerous funded research projects, leading efforts to enhance cybersecurity education and practices.

Associate Professor Dr. Federica Paci’s research interests lie at the intersection of cybersecurity, privacy, and information systems. She focuses on online privacy, exploring methodologies and technologies that enhance user protection in digital environments. Dr. Paci is particularly interested in cyber risk assessment, developing frameworks to evaluate and mitigate security threats in various contexts. Additionally, her work in identity and access management addresses the challenges associated with digital identity and secure access to information systems. Through her research, Dr. Paci aims to contribute to the advancement of secure computing practices and promote a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in managing privacy and security in today’s interconnected world.
